Ralph A. Ottinger, dedicated husband, Father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away on April 8, 2023 at Sunset Home in Clifton, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2023 at Clifton Funeral Home with Lee Davis officiating.
Ralph was born on July 8, 1923 to Lilly and Silvanus Ottinger in Pueblo, Colorado where he attended school and married the love of his life, Betty Prough.
In 1949, they moved to Cleburne, Texas with their two children. Richard W. Ottinger and Linda O. Philipp. Ralph worked in the insurance business and became a national sales manager. He later became a Real Estate Agent and Broker specializing in ranch and land properties, where he was active until he retired at the age of 87.
Ralph designed and built their home at King Creek on Lake Whitney, TX. He enjoyed all things outdoors, fishing, hunting and boating. He also enjoyed woodworking and made numerous pieces of furniture for family members and donated over 3,000 wooden toys to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Houston, TX. Ralph was a proud member of the Freemason and Shriner International organizations.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Ottinger. He is survived by his son Richard and wife Christa from Richardson, TX: daughter Linda and husband Gary from Lake Whitney, TX; granddaughter LeAnn Waldron, and great granddaughters Hannah and Ashleigh Waldron all from Dallas, TX.
Memorials may be made to Sunset-Heckman residence, 1700 West 9th Street, Clifton, TX.
Ralph will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the community.
