Robert "Bob" Jack Conley

Funeral services for Robert (Bob) Jack Conley, age 91, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 17, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Clifton followed by burial at Smith Bend Coon Creek Cemetery. Dr. Jerry Smith and Pastor Cody Creel will officiate.   Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clifton Funeral Home.

Robert (Bob) Jack Conley passed away on Wednesday July 12, 2023 peacefully at home.  Bob was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Jack Bell Conley & Mary Lee Hulquist Conley on November 11, 1931 and was raised on a farm in Hutchins, Texas.  Bob graduated from Wilmer Hutchins High School in 1949 and was co-captain of the football team and voted most handsome.  After high school, he attended Arlington State College, now a branch of the University of Texas working toward a degree in electrical engineering before becoming regional manager of the Xerox Corporation located in Houston, Texas.  During the Korean War, he served as an Airman First Class from 1951 until 1954 with the United States Air Force assigned to the 22nd Troop Carrier Squadron in the Far East Command.  Before and immediately after his service in the Air Force Bob worked for Volk Brothers.  In 1969 Bob and his family moved to Walling Bend and was self-employed and owned a variety of small businesses including the Downtown Restaurant, an insurance business, and lastly a successful real estate business which he retired from in the early 1990’s.

Bob married Julie Putman on September 19, 1981 and moved to the outskirts of Clifton.  In 1983 they purchased B.J’s Western Wear until the business closed in October of 2020.   Bob had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Ruth Jameson.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, and children Serena Conley of Cranfills Gap, Bobby Conley of Tom, Oklahoma, Billy Conley and wife Patti of Arlington, Texas, Leah Anderson and husband Taylor of Clifton, and Paul Putman of Clifton.

Bob is also survived by his Grandchildren George Brantingham and wife Heather of Cranfills Gap, William Brantingham and wife Erica of Plano, Katie Pohland and husband Bryan of Garland, TX, Sarah Duke and husband Chad of Mansfield, Ryan Conley and wife Brandi of Haslet, TX, Amy Conley of Arlington, TX, David Conley and wife Ashley of Berthoud, Colorado, Haleigh Jameson of Plano, Abageal Jameson of McKinney, TX,  Collin Jameson of McKinney, TX, Kyle Putman of Waco, TX, Hannah Putman of Reisel, TX, Lindsey Anderson of Waco, TX,  Tyler Anderson of Clifton, TX, 14 Great Grandchildren, sisters Darlene Ewing and husband Bill of Mabank, TX, Kathey Brock and husband Chester of Mabank and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion or Charity of your choice.
