Ronald Gale Prueitt, known affectionately as Ronnie, passed away on August 23, 2024, in Clifton, Texas. Born on July 15, 1950, in Navasota, Texas, he was a cherished figure in his community and beloved by many.
Ronnie graduated from Yukon High School in 1968. He earned a Bachelor degree from Cameron College (1968-1972), a Master’s degree from Baylor University (1975-1977), and had post-grad studies at Texas Tech University (1978-1979). His career was marked by his 34 years of dedication to education and athletics, serving as a teacher, coach, and administrator in five Texas public schools. After retiring in 2006 he served as a supervisor at Tarleton State University.
A committed serviceman, Ronnie held the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army. He served as the Field Artillery Executive Officer of Firing Battery for 155mm Howitzers and graduated Airborne School. His military tenure was distinguished by his leadership and commitment to his fellow soldiers.
Ronnie was a devout member of the First Baptist Church in Clifton, Texas, where he taught Sunday school. His faith and dedication to his community were evident in his involvement with various groups, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Corsicana Lions Club. Ronnie was also passionate about sports, contributing as a Little League Baseball and Basketball coach, a high school and college referee and a track meet official at various levels.
His hobbies included genealogy, gardening, scuba diving, and attending various sporting events.
Ronnie leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Lynne, his son, Nathan Burl Prueitt and his wife Megan, and their children Alice, Annabelle, and Zach; his daughter, Erin Blair Koss, her husband Chad, and their children Brylee and Zelda; and his sister, Jeana Daire Rainey, and her husband Bob, and their children Chad and Sheridan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl D Prueitt and Estellee “Rose” Hinklin Prueitt.
Services to honor Ronnie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Clifton, Texas at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Clifton Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Ronnie’s legacy of service, education, and community involvement will be remembered by all that knew and loved him.
