Royce Anderson Allen, 81, of Clifton passed away on February 3, 2023 at Goodall Witcher Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Norse. (152 CR 4145 Clifton, TX 76634).

Royce Anderson Allen was born on January 21, 1942 to Sloan and Maudie Lee Allen of Clifton, TX.  His early childhood was spent with his grandparents, Ben and Etta Mae Anderson on the family farm while his father served during World War II. In the early 1950s after his father was discharged from the United States Army, the Allen family established residence in River Oaks, TX. Royce graduated from Castleberry High School and continued his education attending the University of Texas at Arlington, where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration-Accounting. Royce resided in Ft. Worth, TX with his first wife, Garry Ann Strickland and their three children. Royce worked for General Dynamics as comptroller for a period of nine years before subsequently gaining employment with Dalworth Slurry Seal. This opportunity allowed him to work outdoors and soon became the motivating factor in founding his startup SEALCO, specializing in slurry seal overlay for airport runway rehabilitation and resurfacing. Royce’s courageousness and work ethic awarded him numerous contracts with municipal, state and federal agencies including the Texas Department of Transportation, Aviation Division and the U.S. Department of Defense, Navy and Air Force Divisions.

Royce’s philosophy on “no job too small or too far away” led him in 1985 to a rural far west Texas town on an airport bid in Terrell County. While bidding on the job at the county courthouse, he met his current wife of 36 years, Martha Garza Ogdahl. Royce and Martha resided in Sanderson, TX with their family for twenty years enjoying the friendliness and safety of a small community.

Throughout Royce’s career and family life, he continued to farm on the family ranch in Clifton, TX. In 2005, after 35 years as Founder and CEO of SEALCO, he retired and returned to his love of farming. Royce continued working on his conservation projects, attending to his cattle and spent countless hours on the tractor cultivating his fields where he found the most joy and freedom.

Royce enjoyed sports, cooking, politics and most of all watching the weather forecast. Often referred to as “the weather man” it was customary for Royce to call family and friends to inform them of weather headed their way.

Royce is survived by his wife Martha Allen and five children. Dana Sims & husband Kyle of Cleburne, TX; Todd Allen & wife Danna of Godley, TX; Allison Jobe & husband Eric of Cleburne, TX; Sloane Allen of New Braunfels,TX; Austin Allen and wife Chelsea of Clifton, TX.

He was loved by his 11 grandchildren; Mallary, Rowdy, Alex, Jack, Makane, Major, Kole, Weslee, Wittin, Peyten and Hayden. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren; Maudie, Maevy and Faerren as well as 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents Sloan and Maudie Allen and his sister Betty Sue Schumann.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or your local animal shelter, two charities supported by Royce.
