Sheryl Denise Evans

Sheryl Denise Evans, born on November 28, 1973, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, in Whitney, Texas. Sheryl leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will resonate with all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

As a single mother, Sheryl was a pillar of strength, consistently demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her three children, Sara, Bobbi, and Dylan Ratliff. Her tireless efforts ensured that her children had a stable upbringing filled with love. Sheryl’s resilience and dedication were evident in everything she did, as she genuinely put her children's needs above her own.

Sheryl was full of life and found her greatest joy in her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, bringing light and purpose to her days. Outside of this, she had a vibrant personality and an adventurous spirit. Sheryl enjoyed crafting and scrapbooking to preserve cherished memories from the love and joy in her life. An outdoors enthusiast, she delighted in camping under the vast sky, often surrounded by family and friends. Her lively spirit shone during family poker nights and horseshoe games, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air. Sheryl will be remembered not only for her resilience but also for the comfort and love she shared so generously.

Professionally, Sheryl was previously a dedicated dispatcher at Skinner Transportation Inc., where her hard work and commitment were evident to all who knew her.

Sheryl shared an extraordinary bond with her parents, Sammy and Chereta Evans, whom she loved so dearly and cared for throughout her life. The passing of her beloved parents left a profound loss in her heart, marking a turning point in her own health and life. Despite these challenges in her later years, Sheryl displayed incredible strength, stubbornness, and an unyielding will to fight. Her resilience was a testament to her character, and she fought with everything she had until her last breath. In her final days, she found acceptance in knowing she was ready to go home to the good Lord, to reunite with her beloved parents, and leave her earthly struggles behind. She longed for her body to be restored and her spirit to be free.

Just like her daddy, family was always the cornerstone of her life. She found her happiest moments surrounded by loved ones and cherished every opportunity to create meaningful memories. Sheryl will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her resilience, and the love she shared so generously with those around her.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her loving parents, Sammy and Chereta Evans; her maternal grandparents Dorsel and Jeannie Smith, and Olive Nunley; paternal grandparents Wilson and Mary Evans; aunts, Gwen Halsell, Joann Kelly, Annette Lane, and Darlene Pierce; and uncle Curtis Evans.

Sheryl is survived by her children, Sara, Bobbi, and Dylan (along with her favorite dog child, Lucy, that I promised I wouldn’t leave out); her son‑in‑law, Mike Moore; and her adoring grandchildren, Bailey, Kirra, Easton, Mia, Callaway, Jordyn, and Rylan; her brothers, Craig Scott and Ronnie Evans; her cherished nieces, Kari, and Aubrey Hafer; her nephew, Zach Hafer, aunts, Stormy Evans, Sheila Hohertz, Wanda Carnes, Dale Ringo, and Vera Martin; uncles, Butch Evans, Jackie Evans, David Evans, Bobby Evans, Ron Smith, and Alan Smith; and an outstanding amount of cousins that she loved dearly.
