Sydonia Adele Sommerfeld

Sydonia Adele Zander Sommerfeld, 93, went to be with her Lord on October 7, 2018, at Goodall Witcher Hospital surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Clifton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Clifton Funeral Home.

Sydonia was born November 14, 1924, in Valley Mills to Alex and Louise Zander. In 1946, she married Lawrence Gus Sommerfeld, “Bebop”, on October 12th, and in this union, they had, 4 children. On November 12, 1983, she married Fritz Sommerfeld in Brenham. “Memaw” enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends. She also LOVED cruising in the Caribbean with her family.

She was preceded in death by Lawrence Sommerfeld, Fritz Sommerfeld, Cynthia Finstad, Ann Newhaus, Alton Zander, Roland Zander, Michael Church, Bill Sheilds, Dana Jorgenson, and Martin Jorgenson.

She is survived by her son, Howard Sommerfeld and wife, Betty; daughter, Ellen Shields; son, Jimmy Sommerfeld; stepchildren, Peggy Bosse and husband, Milton; Judy Griffin and husband, Mike; sister, Glenda Bowlin; son, John Ramsey and wife, Susan; son-in-law, John Finstad; 10 grandkids; 27 great grandkids; 2 great-great grandkids; and special nephew, James Zander.Pallbearers are Chris Sommerfeld, Jeffery Michaud, Chad Church, Nathan Ringo, Hunter Ringo and John Ramsey, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Emil Schwartz, Milton Zellmer, James Zander, and Richard Ringo.
