Tek Outlaw

Weldon Tek Outlaw gained his angel wings, surrounded by his loving family on September 20, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Clifton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church (10:00 A.M.).

Tek was born at Hillcrest Hospital, to John Ward and Ida Hulme Outlaw on September 10, 1936.

He lived in many places growing up such as Meridian, Glen Rose and Clifton. During his school years , he attended Clifton school. He was an awesome football and track athlete. Tek managed to play all District Football for three years in a row. He graduated Clifton High School in 1955. Becoming a line man after graduation, Tek did a lot of traveling and climbing poles in many states. He worked in Texas, Louisiana and Virginia. He and his family settled in Lake Charles Louisiana for a time, then in 1971 he moved back to Clifton. He and his family established a home here for his remaining years.

After returning to his home town, Tek started a business here. He established Central Electric and it became an integral part of Clifton’s business district. In 1976, he decided to bring his son into the family trade. Kenny and Tek constructed A-1 Electric & Air Conditioning. The business continues to operate as a firm part of Clifton’s merchant area. Kenny is now following in his fathers footsteps as owner an operator of A-1 Electric & Air Conditioning. Tek, in his later years went to work at McLennan County Co-Op in McGregor, Texas. He continued to work there until he retired.

Tek was an important part of his church during his years in Clifton. For numerous years he was an Ordained Deacon by Pastor Bryan Thornburg at First Baptist Church of Clifton. He raised his family in the church and continued to follow in his father and Grandfather’s path as a Deacon of the Church.

After retirement , Tek enjoyed many hobbies. He loved woodworking, traveling, playing dominoes and bowling. He could always be talked into doing side jobs by any and all. He also liked to catch an old Western or two on T.V. when he could. In September of 2018, he was able to travel on an Alaskan Cruise with family members Kenny, Keith, Susan Madison and Garrett. Tek always reminisced about that trip till the day he passed from this Earth. It will be a cherished memory for family to always share.

Tek was preceded in death by his parents, John and “B” Outlaw. Wives, Helen Outlaw and Glenda Outlaw.

He is survived by his children: Carol (Johnny), Kenny (Julia), Keith (Susan), and Kelly (Beth). Tek had 13 grandkids and 20 great grandkids. He also had his bonus children, Theresa, Wanda and Dan, his brother Johnny (Betty) and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. What a blessing!

Tek will be surly missed by so many. He touched many lives in the 86 years he was with us.

Memorials may be given to the American Legion Post #322 of Clifton, Clifton Sunset Ministries or Hospice Sunset.
