Theogene Luke “T. L.” Lavergne, 93, of Clifton passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital. No services are scheduled at this time.
T. L. was born October 8, 1923, in Church Point, LA, to Joseph Austin and Edna Marie (Boudreaux) Lavergne. He grew up and graduated high school in Church Point. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany near the end of World War II. Upon his return from the service, he moved to Washington State where he went to work for the civil service. In 1950, T. L. moved to Killeen, TX and went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. He retired in 1983 and moved to Clifton, TX to enjoy his retirement. T. L.’s favorite hobbies were reading and enjoying the outdoors. T. L. was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Johnny Lavergne; sister, Dora Fontenot; and a niece, Theresa Diane Burleigh.
Survivors include his sister, Davie Lou Burleigh of Houston; nieces and nephews, Lise Kramer of California, Suzanne Wolding of Florida, Jerry Lavergne of Seabrook, Patrick Fontenot of Slidell, LA, Marie Fontenot of Lafayette, LA, Mark Fontenot of Carencro, LA, Lynette Marshall of Colmesneil, Roy Burleigh of Porter, Kenneth Burleigh of Montgomery, Randy Burleigh of Montgomery, Bitsy Anderson of Port Neches, Brenda Bradford of Houston, Terry Burleigh of Pasadena, Donny Burleigh of Cypress, and Carolyn Ruffeno of Katy.
