William Joseph Roper

William Joseph Roper, 62, of Clifton passed away suddenly Sunday, January 29, 2017 at St. David's Medical Center in Austin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park. Visitation will began at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at Clifton Funeral Home with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

William was born August 7, 1954 in Clifton to Mack and Frances Roper. He grew up with one brother, Ben Roper, and one sister, Joan Roper. William attended Clifton High School and graduated in 1972. William and Esther Coates were united in marriage on September 14, 1991 in Laguna Park, and recently celebrated 25 years together.

William was a lifelong resident of Bosque County and employed at Lhoist in Clifton. He was a Mason, Past Master of Clifton Lodge 360, and a member of the Free Masons Motorcycle Riding Club. He was also a Shriner and member of the Karem Shrine in Waco. William was committed to his faith and served as an usher and member of the Parish Council at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton.

William never met a stranger and always had a quick smile and a kind word. A man with a big heart, he was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend and will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Roper; two daughters, Kellie Fluornoy and husband, Russell, of Whitney and Diana Cardona and husband, Derek, of Clifton; four grandchildren; brother and sister, Ben Roper and wife, Patricia and Joan Roper, both of College Station; four nephews, Matthew Roper and wife, Lauren, of Pearland, Christopher Roper and wife, Dagny, of Virginia, and Sean Roper and Kenneth Belknap, both of College Station; other extended family; and a multitude of friends and acquaintances.
