Wilma Amundson Meissner was born on November 10, 1943 to precious parents Vergie Aars Amundson and William O.G. Amundson. They lived in the Harmony Community in Bosque County, Texas. Wilma attended Cranfills Gap ISD graduating as Valedictorian in 1962! She then went on to attend Business School in Dallas. Wilma moved back to her childhood home in Bosque County and went to work for Texas Farm Bureau regional office in Waco as the Secretary to the President of the company.

She was married to a German man named Herbert E. Meissner on May 18, 1968. They made their home in Cranfills Gap, Texas. Wilma took leave from work to help her husband on their two properties in the Gap and in eastern Hamilton. She helped her husband with ranching and custom farming. They were blessed with a daughter, Lorin by adoption in 1978.  They became active at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in the Gap. Wilma ultimately became music director in 1970 and held the position of church organist until 2006. She lost her dear husband Herbert in a fatal farming accident in 1982. She relied on her Christian faith to guide her in raising her daughter Lorin alone with the help of her Lord and Savior!

Wilma was later baptized, attended studies, and confirmed at OSLC Norse and was still a member there up until her passing. Wilma made her home at Willow Park Nursing Facility in Clifton following an automobile accident in 2019.

Wilma continued to have love and support from her sister Sue Viertel, brother Vernon Amundson, cousin Helen Viertel Knudson, brother-in-law Robert W. Meissner and family, daughter Lorin, grandchildren Adrian, Chandler, and Christian, Everlyn and Nate. She had a host of nieces, nephews and close friends that will be saddened at her passing. She will also be truly missed by her OSLC family whom she dearly loved and shared many blessings with.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Church Cemetery and Our Savior’s Lutheran Organ Fund.
