Wilma (Sue) Lanehart Philipp passed away peacefully on December 25, 2022 at the age of 88. She was a resident of the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home where she worked for many years. Services will be held at Clifton Funeral Home on Friday December 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Funeral will be conducted by Dr. John Wheatley.
Sue was born on September 16, 1934 to parents James and Grace (Morman) Lanehart. She grew up in the Cayote and Fairview areas of Bosque County. Sue had two brothers and three sisters to share her childhood years with. Life was simple and good in that small community on the outskirts of Clifton, Texas. Sue attended school in Clifton in her growing up years. As time passed, Sue grew into a young woman. One special day, she met the love of her life, Werner C. Philipp at a 4H meeting. Werner came into her life and they were inseparable. They were joined in marriage on June 6, 1953 at her uncle's little farm house in Cayote. To this union brought the blessings of 5 children. Werner Stephen, Jerry, Larry, Karen and Sharon. They were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church for many years up until the passing of Werner in 1991. Sue spent their early years of marriage being a stay-at-home mother. The children were her whole world. After they were all settled in school, Sue attended Clifton Nursing School at the Goodall/Witcher Hospital located right in the heart of Clifton, Texas, many years ago. She worked as an LVN at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset for 34 years.
After Werner’s passing in 1991, Sue returned to her church roots in Cayote. She attended The Methodist Church there in Cayote for her remaining years on this earth. During the time she was working at Clifton Lutheran Sunset, Sue became a grandmother. She was head over heels in love with her Grandchildren. They quickly became her whole world and she was so proud of them! She loved when they came to stay with her. Sue had some hobbies like crocheting, playing Bingo, and arts and crafts, but they paled in comparison to the Grand-babies. She so so loved them all! Sue was always a helper when it came to others, always smiling while lending that helping hand, and always finding the joy in her life. Family was her biggest joy of all! She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Werner and daughter Sharon Shropshire.
